BlackGentry VIP is an auto-renewable subscription service provided within the app. Activate BlackGentry VIP and you will get all the features of Deluxe (send unlimited likes, rewind profiles, hide ads, send unlimited direct messages, see who likes you, change locations, see Second Chance) PLUS ability to enable incognito mode and access Gentry Lounge.
Auto-renewable subscriptions for BlackGentry VIP:
1-month ($34.99), 3 months ($69.99), 6-months ($99.99), 12-months ($149.99) durations
Your subscription will be charged to your iTunes account at confirmation of purchase and will automatically renew (at the duration selected) unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Current subscription may not be cancelled during the active subscription period; however, you can manage your subscription to a higher plan and/or turn off auto-renewal by visiting your iTunes Account Settings after purchase.
Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. First of all, I will start by saying that I am a Black women who has used a lot of dating apps such as tinder, hinge, bumble etc and my experience has been terrible on those apps. I received disrespectful messages from men who were only looking for a hook up.
Finding BlackGentry changed my feelings on dating apps and it is currently the only dating app I use. I saw an ad on IG and I follow their page and I have been in touch with customer service as I initially needed help and they were helpful and truly are passionate about creating an app for us and by us. Since joining I have seen a lot of improvements in the quality of men on the app as well as the stability of the app. I have also met decent men on the app over the past year. One of which I dated for a while. It ended so I came back and I am supriswd at all the new features. I absolutely love the restaurants feature and I see there is now a lot of members. I literally got 50 likes my first day on the app from DECENT black men.
Great Job BlackGentry. We truly need to support apps and company’s that make products for us by us and this company is an example of one doing things right and for the right reason.

isthereanynickna , 08/02/2023I found the app after seeing an ad on IG and thought to give it a try and so far it has been really cool. One thing that sets it apart is the selfie verification. It really made me feel secure to know that the people on the app are real. I have ran into many fake profiles on other dating apps and got tired of wasting swipes on fake people. The other thing I like about it is that it is very detailed and professional. The deluxe membership really gives you a lot of options because I don’t want to swipe all day so it’s great to just search for people and I like changing my location when i travel so I can meet people. The app crashes sometimes but I see that they update it often and fix stuff. So far, it’s a great app and I am meeting decent men and having good conversations. Definitely check it out.
Misleading
The absolutely worst dating app. They advertise “ambitious black singles” but there is no special screening different from other apps so u are literally getting the same ppl I would get from any other app. Also you can’t see who likes you unless you upgrade and and not a lot of men I’ve seen on here are willing to upgrade to match and communicate with you. This is a fairly new service and after 4 days of a paid subscription I was given a message there were no other profiles for me to view. Again, the advertisement makes you believe you will meet a higher caliber mate but there is no screening or requirements that make this app any different from others and if u don’t upgrade to a paid subscription so many features are blocked making this a full waste of time.
Edit: I’ve read the developers comment and of course it’s their job to try to make the app seem good but essentially it’s no different than any others that all functions are free. You can send a very limited amount of messages and u can’t see who likes YOU.I’ve seen the exact same ppl I’ve seen on FB dating, BLK etc.
That’s FINE but the advertisement is very misleading. I agree with the person who commented the app is boring. So much so I deleted the app with time still left on the monthly subscription I purchased.

The core functionalities of the app are free to use. All users can swipe and chat with their matches. We even let us send DMs for free without matching. There is no way for you to tell who is a subscriber and who is not. Many of our success stories have been from free users.
The membership committee reviews and approve profiles and we reject hundreds of profiles every day. We have a list of over 20 reasons why we might reject a profile listed on our website. This also helps to keep the app safer. There is no way we can cater to every ones criteria. We understand that every one has different preferences so we provide filters and a search functionality so each individual can search based on their preference. We also recently introduced a Professional module where users have to provide their LinkedIn and be approved to get access. Users in this module can see other professionals. So we have an approval process to get on the app and yet another approval process to get into Professionals module. No other dating app has this.
Lastly, the number of profiles you see depends on your location, filters you set and how many profiles you have already seen. No dating app has an infinite number of people. We are one of the largest dating apps designed for the community and are consistently ranked in the top apps. Similar to other apps, you can run out users but we add thousands of new users every day.
